Invocation - Oklahoma County Commissioners Office - 2 June 2025

This morning - 2 June 2025 - I was invited to give the invocation at the Oklahoma County Commissioners meeting. Here is what I said and prayed:

Hear the Word of the Lord: Whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. For the wrongdoer will be paid back for what he has done, and there is no partiality (Colossians 3:23-25).

Now, I invite you, if you can in good conscience, please join me as I pray to the God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ:

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Almighty, indestructible God, who sits enthroned over heaven and earth, you have placed men and women in positions of authority to lead as your representatives. Therefore, please grant these county commissioners your wisdom and guidance so that fairness wrapped in divine mercy will rule their deliberations and decisions, in both the colorless and the consequential. Prosper OKC, Oklahoma County, and the surrounding regions not only financially, but also with plentiful crops and cattle, with peace, with decreasing crime, a substantial decline in mental illness, an increase in well-being, growth of children, and robust families. Thank you for protecting our Law Enforcement Officers, Sherriff, Deputies, Troopers, firefighters and first responders, and be pleased to continue that protection. Further, we remember our war fighters, overseas and at home, and we implore you to keep them under your watchful care. Help us, here in the greater OKC area, to continue to show hospitality, helpfulness and hopefulness to those who are uprooted by wars, wildfires, and want. Finally, grant to us all – civil magistrates and citizens, leaders and the led, to faithfully maintain and work mightily for liberty and justice for all – both the born and unborn. All these requests I ask in submission to the Lord Jesus Christ your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, One God. Amen.
