The Ascension of Christ (Meditation and Prayer)

This morning, in my reading and prayer time, I was pouring over Acts 1.1-11 and was thinking about the Ascension. My time meditating brought me to craft this prayer that draws from Scripture and the Westminster Shorter Catechism, Maybe you can find this useful: Christ has risen! Christ ascended! Christ reigns! You ascended into heaven; * God and man in two distinct natures and one person, forever (WSC 21)! You ascended into heaven, having finished the race, and have sat down at the right hand of the throne on high; * God and man in two distinct natures and one person, forever! You ascended into heaven to be our perpetual prophet, revealing to us, by your word and Spirit, the will of God for our salvation (WSC 24); * God and man in two distinct natures and one person, forever! You ascended into heaven to be our permanent priest, after having once offering up yourself a sacrifice to satisfy divine justice, reconciling us to God, and now in making continual intercession for ...

It is our privilege and honor to be invited into your presence to pray on behalf of the world and your church. And in your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, you have given us bold access into your presence to bring our cares and petitions. We come, Lord, at your invitation and bequest. For Obet in Indonesia; Fika in Indonesia; Emmanuel in Ghana; Christell in Peru; Arlyn in El Slavador; Benjamin in El Salvador; Yeidi in Columbia; and Aide in the Dominican Republic;  as well any other children we are helping through, For the Children’s Sake Foundation, International Justice Mission, and other organizations. We pray for them and for their families. Have mercy on them; may our gifts, letters, and caring intentions for them provide them wonderful, healthy opportunities. And may they all know you and your Son Jesus Christ.
