"Who Executes Lovingkindness, Justice, and Righteousness..." - 2 July 2023
O God, the
Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, who executes lovingkindness,
justice, and righteousness in the earth, for it is in these you delight
(Jeremiah 9:24). Glory to you, O Lord!
We pray for
your Church throughout the nations, this congregation, and New Bethel Church of
God in Christ, Rainbow, Trinity, and Victory Temple. Fill your dearly loved
people with courage and divine determination as we aim at seeking first your
kingdom and your righteousness. Fill up all our lack; grant good health; guide
our every step in godly ways, strengthening our desire to be faithful disciples
of Christ. And grant us to treat our enemies and detractors with the same
gracious kindness you treated us when we were your enemies.
We call out
to you those we know who need to repent of their sins and believe in Christ, as
well as those who have strayed away and need to be restored, and those whose
faith has been traumatized (…). Turn them from the father of lies and bring them
to embrace the Son of your love, Jesus Christ. And may we have a part in their
turning.
Hear us, O
Lord, as we petition your most holy, wise, and powerful preserving and
governing of the nations of this world, including Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint
Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Samoa. Please bring under control
the warring factions and chaotic turmoil plaguing many countries, restore peace
and wholesome order, and build up what is honorable and sensible.
O Eternal
God, through whose mighty power our ancestors in this country won their
liberties of old, we pray to you. As we ponder again our nation’s independence
this 4th of July, we beg you to grant that we and all the people of this land
may have grace and fortitude to maintain these liberties in righteousness and
peace through Jesus Christ our Lord. Further, bring us to see the future we are
carving out for the coming generations and to see how destructive some of our
directions can become, and then to turn in ways of lovingkindness, justice, and
righteousness. Thus, we pray in the words of the old Patriotic song: “God bless
America, land that I love. Stand beside her and guide her, through the night
with the light from above. From the mountains to the prairies, to the oceans
white with foam. God bless America, my home sweet home.”
We intercede on behalf of those who are distressed with poor health, scanty finances, family strife, nerve-wracking fears, and tumultuous anxieties (…). O compassionate God, raise them up, giving them hope, health and all the resources they need to recover.
We offer up to you our thanksgiving for all your generosity to us this past week, for food and clothing, safety in travel, renewed health, wellbeing, and so much more (…). And now, we join voices and hearts together to pray as our Lord Jesus directed, saying, Our Father, who art in heaven…
