"Finally, Brothers..." A Prayer from 2 Corinthians 13:11

(I sent this to my congregation in my weekly letter a couple of weeks back. It's a prayer taken from 2 Corinthians 13:11 of the ESV. I hope many of you will use it in your specific situation. I would love to hear from you as you pray through this verse, especially if you begin to notice some changes -in your own heart and attitude or in your situation. The God of love and peace be with you. Pastor Mike)

Finally, brothers, rejoice” - Lord, may we be a joyful people, filled with joy and thanksgiving.

Aim for restoration” - And may we work toward restoring relationships in our families, church, denomination, and neighborhood.

Comfort one another” - Lord, may we be a means of your grace in taking the comfort you have given us in our afflictions (2 Corinthians 1:3-5), bringing that comfort to others.

Agree with one another”  - Lord, in this social context where so many in our age are at one another’s throats, may we stand and work and walk together in faith, hope, and love.

Live in peace” - May we help one another, care for one another, and may the peace of Christ rule in our hearts together (Colossians 3:15).

And so, O God of love and peace, be with us one and all. Amen.
