"Like the Mountains..." - 8 May 2022 PM

Your righteousness is like the mountains, O God; your judgments are like the great deep; man and beast you save, O LORD (Psalm 36:6); therefore we implore you to give your much needed assistance, provision, direction, comfort, strength and restoration to our brotherhood throughout the world, specifically where they are facing heat and hostilities, such as in Yemen, Nigeria, Uganda, Syria, Israel, Egypt, Eastern Europe and Indonesia. O Lord, hear our prayer.

We pray for all the nations of our world and our own country. Guide the leaders and peoples – and specifically the leaders of Russia and Ukraine – toward peaceful civility and justice. And may neighborly love strongly help those who need to rebuild and pull their shattered, broken lives back together. May the inhabitants of every nation enjoy safety so that your church may be unmolested, and your Gospel go forward unhindered. O Lord, hear our prayer.

For this congregation we ask: give us, O Lord, purity of lips, clean and innocent hearts, and rectitude of action; give us humility, patience, self-control, prudence, justice and courage; give us the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and godliness; make us ever to seek your face with all our heart, all our soul, all our mind and might; to walk with you as Noah and Enoch did, doing what is right in your sight; and grant us to have a contrite and humble heart in your presence, and to prefer nothing above your love. O Lord, hear our prayer.

O God, who in your goodness has caused the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to shine forth. We pray for all who walk in darkness, to include Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists, and Secularists world over; pour out your life-giving Spirit on them that they may turn to you and embrace and confess Jesus as Israel’s Messiah and the world’s true Lord. O Lord, hear our prayer.

Almighty God, you have taught us not to think of ourselves only, but also for the wants and needs of others. We pray for the many burdened and oppressed, who have been crushed and had their purposes and dreams overthrown (…); the many who are afflicted by poverty, worn down and worn thin by disease, illness, and ailment (…); the many who are weary and heavy laden, in gloom and misery, and those suffering for righteousness’ sake (…). Help them in the ways that are most fitting and suitable to their need that they all may rest in you. O Lord, hear our prayer.
