"Enter His Gates with Thanksgiving" - Thanksgiving and Prayer for Sunday Evening - 28 November 2021

Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth! Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the LORD, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture” (Psalm 100:1-3). Joy-filling LORD, Creation-making Lord, People-preserving LORD, it is to you we pray, O Lord, hear our prayer.

First, we give you our thanks for upholding us through this last year. We specifically give you thanks for (think of definite things to give thanks for here…). May our whole lives be serving you with gladness. O Lord, hear our prayer.

Further, Lord, we implore you to look on those who don’t know you. To take notice of those who don’t know that you are God. To watch over and restore those who have forgotten that you made us, and we are yours (…). Bring them into your sheepfold, call them all by name. O Lord, hear our prayer.

We also ask you to govern our nation, with all of its present strife. We have a long history of civil conflict, of rebelliousness, of renegadism, of violent Constitutional-social-political disagreements, and such like. We forget that the last 70 to 100 years have been unique in our own history and in the world. We also ask you to clear the way for our Supreme Court to clearly hear why Roe V. Wade needs to be overturned and to restore the value of unborn life in this country. You are the One who establishes nations in peace and prosperity, and so we beg you to do so for us, so that your people in this country may lead peaceful and quiet lives that are godly and dignified in every way (1 Timothy 2:2). O Lord, hear our prayer.

Finally, Lord, fortify this congregation, as well as your church throughout this land and all over this big globe. Bring us to enter your gates with thanksgiving, and your courts with praise! That we would always give thanks to you and bless your name! For, you, O LORD are good; your steadfast love endures forever, and your faithfulness to all generations (Psalm 100:4-5). O Lord, hear our prayer.
