"Make Haste, O God" - 24 January 2021

(This can be used in personal devotions, or public settings. The ellipses (...) are where you or your fellow petitioners can add names verbally or silently. And the bolded statements are verbal, corporate responses)

With the Psalmist, for others, and with one another, we pray:

“Make haste, O God, to deliver me! O LORD, make haste to help me! Let them be put to shame and confusion who seek my life! Let them be turned back and brought to dishonor who delight in my hurt! Let them turn back because of their shame who say, “Aha, Aha!” May all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you! May those who love your salvation say evermore, “God is great!” But I am poor and needy; hasten to me, O God! You are my help and my deliverer; O LORD, do not delay” (Psalm 70)! O Lord, hear our prayer.

Give relief to those tackled by chronic pain (…). O Lord, hear our prayer.

Grant a sense of hope to those knocked over with grief, or depression, or regret (…). O Lord, hear our prayer.

Bestow liberty on those shackled by plaguing sins (…). O Lord, hear our prayer.

Bring about aid to those who are in real financial need (…). O Lord, hear our prayer.

Place your hand for good on those being crushed, coerced and cowed by oppressors, whether it’s tyrannical governments, tyrannical spiritual leaders, tyrannical spouses, or tyrannical parents (…). O Lord, hear our prayer.

Pull back on the reigns of those who are making the way for evil to prosper – even if they think they’re doing it for a good cause (…). O Lord, hear our prayer.

All of these requests we have mentioned, and those that have remained silently on our hearts, we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, your Son and our saving Lord. Amen
