"Praise the LORD!" - Congregational Prayer 19 May 2019

{This congregational prayer is all dressed up in Psalm 112}

Praise the LORD! Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who greatly delights in his commandments! His offspring will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Thank you that in Jesus Christ the Righteous One, we have now been made the generation of the upright! We pray for your Church, O God; for your sacred society all over the world, in this country, throughout the State of Oklahoma, this congregation, and Shartel Church of God, South Agnew Church of God, Church of God in Christ on NE 65th Street, and Greater Coates Temple Church. May your Church be blessed walking in the fear of God and delighting in your commandments. May your people be mighty in the land for generations to come, godly and blessed.

Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever. Light dawns in the darkness for the upright; he is gracious, merciful, and righteous. Look on us, our homes and our families. Continue to fill our lives and families with goodness and welfare at every level. May our righteousness endure unto a thousand generations, and even when darkness seems to swallow up the good, may your light always shine around us and guide us so that we will perpetually be gracious, merciful and righteous in all of our affairs, afflictions and affections.

It is well with the man who deals generously and lends; who conducts his affairs with justice. For the righteous will never be moved; he will be remembered forever. We beg your mercy for our nation. From the White House all the way to our house, may we deal generously and openhandedly, especially with those who have less or little. May we conduct our lives, our legal briefs and our legislations with justice – for the free born, unborn and foreign born. May righteousness and honor prevail in our land that we may always be a stable, sturdy and strong people.

He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the LORD. His heart is steady; he will not be afraid, until he looks in triumph on his adversaries. On behalf of all nations, all families, and all populations, we pray. We ask you to give your aid and care to those who are weak, weary and worn-out… Please also give your resilience to those about to receive bad news or are worried about bad news… And please give your courage to those intimidated by tyrants and toughs… May all peoples of all lands find you as you are, the trustworthy LORD! And may they come to trust in you!

He has distributed freely; he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures forever; his horn is exalted in honor. May your people, especially here in the land of plenty, respond to your plenteousness by giving plentifully. Enrich and fortify those service organizations that are helping others in need, such as Project 66; Infant Crisis Center; Hope Center of Edmond; Hope Pregnancy Center; Restore OKC; Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children; and Anna’s House Foundation, just to name a few. Help us to wisely and willingly partner with them monetarily and with manpower.

The wicked man sees it and is angry; he gnashes his teeth and melts away; the desire of the wicked will perish! We pray for the wicked ones who gnash their teeth in anger against your reign and your righteous ones. We pray for your gracious Spirit to bring about their conversion and renovation to rely on Jesus and submit to him. And if they will not, may they melt away and their desire perish, for your honor’s sake and Jesus’ sake. Amen (drawn from Psalm 112).
