Pastoral/Congregational Prayer-2 December 2012

LORD God, the Almighty, whose eyes run to-and-fro throughout the whole earth to show yourself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are loyal to you (2 Chron. 16.9); whose eyes are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good (Prov. 15.3); and whose eyes are toward the righteous and whose ears toward their cry (Psalm 34.15). Please hear our voiced and silent prayers.

We pray that the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea (Hab. 2.14); that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored, and that your people may be delivered from wicked and evil men. For not all have faith (2 Thess. 3.1-2). To that end, we ask that Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and Jews, as well as friends, family, neighbors we know …[Silently mention names]..., would be stirred up to place their utter confidence on your Son, Jesus Christ while renouncing their iniquity. Lord, hear our prayer.

O Lord our healer, turn your face upon these who find their bodies and minds breaking down with the effects of the fall …[silently mention names] … restore them body and soul in Jesus Christ. Lord, hear our prayer.

Almighty and everlasting God, whose will it is to restore and unite all things in your well-beloved Son, Jesus Christ, the King of kings and Lord of lords: as we hear the disturbing news of rebels and unrest in Congo, Syria, Egypt, and many other places, we ask you to mercifully grant that the peoples of this earth, divided and enslaved by sin, may be freed and brought together under Christ’s most gracious rule; and may we who worship you in Spirit and truth, be so changed through worshiping you acceptably that we would become increasingly a part of your remedy and no longer part of the disease. Lord, hear our prayer.

O Lord, you are our judge, you are our lawgiver, you are our King, you will save us (Isa. 33.22)! Guide and direct the actions of our president, Mr. Obama, our Congress and Senate, our Justices, our governor, Ms. Fallin, our state representatives, and magistrates; may their work, actions, judgments and decisions not harm your church, nor endorse injustice, but rather stimulate civility, righteous morality, and wholesome industry. And please rouse the occupants of this land to guard the liberties you have given us, through honesty, integrity and diligence.  Lord, hear our prayer.

God of creation, here in Oklahoma, Texas, & New Mexico, we’re in serious trouble. The ground is destitute of moisture, the lakes are drying up, the wells and aquifers are running low, springs are drying up, and farmers and cattlemen are suffering at the tune of billions of dollars in loss. O God, you know our need. Bring us rains, showers and snow-falls we need to soundly reverse this perilous hardship. Lord, hear our prayer.

O Lord our God, exalted and dwelling on high; please fill this congregation with Justice & Righteousness, be the stability of our times, the abundance of our salvation, wisdom and knowledge; may the fear of the LORD be our treasure (Isa. 33.5-6).  Lord, hear our prayer.

All of these prayers we offer to You through Your Son, Jesus Christ, as we now sing:
Hear our prayer, O Lord, hear our prayer O Lord;Incline thine to us, and grant us thy peace (Trinity Hymnal 728).
