Post-Election Prayer 2012

6 November 2012

"Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come! Great and amazing are your deeds, O Lord God the Almighty! Just and true are your ways, O King of the nations! Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship you, for your righteous acts have been revealed." We bow before you knowing that you have cared for us and will continue to do so. Your might and majesty are far above and beyond our comprehension or conceptions. We acknowledge and admire your works of providence, whereby your most holy, wise and powerful preserving and governing of all your creatures and all of our actions is to your glory and to our good. Confident in you, who has promised “I will never leave you nor forsake you,” we boldly say, "The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?" Therefore, help us to rise up trusting you, and to “build houses and live in them; plant gardens and eat their produce. Take wives and have sons and daughters; take wives for your sons, and give your daughters in marriage, that they may bear sons and daughters; multiply …, and do not decrease. But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare." O God, may “justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.” And may we, your people, be those who humble ourselves under your mighty hand knowing that in due time you will raise us up; and cast all of our cares on you who cares for us. Now to “the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.”
