"Our Father, Who Has Cheerfully Adopted Us (...)." 22 February 2026

Our Father, who has cheerfully adopted us through Jesus Christ, we come and hand over our burdened hearts to you for this world, for your church, and for our families and friends.

We find that we are often restless and uneasy about the things going on in our own lives, amongst our friends and family, and in our world. Why, there’s sickness, sorrow, troubles at home, problems at work, uncertainty about the future, wars and rumors of war, and plenty of other plights. We remember these who are wrestling and wrangling with specific misfortunes (…). Grant them and us courage, faith, graciousness, comfort and relief.

We call upon you to take care of our country and all who are in authority. Promote our national well-being. Defend us from malicious elements that would bring us into harm’s way, from the left and the right. And bring us to utilize our liberties for the purpose of furthering justice and peace for the freeborn, the foreign born and the unborn. Some parts of our nation are drowning or getting dry as a bone. Please provide us the moderate rains and showers we need so that our farmers and cattlemen will be bountiful, as well as our reservoirs and aquifers.

We ask you to take note of the nations of our world, including Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Eritrea. We pray for you to especially keep an eye on those places where there are conflicts, slavery, brutality, anarchy, abortion, human trafficking and ferocious injustice. We implore you to cause justice and hope to reign in every land, for the good of your church and the peoples of each nation.

O Lord, we pray for your Church in all places, for this congregation, Poplar and Warren Church of Christ, Putnam City, Seminole Pointe, and Southwest Church of Christ. Keep us ever in your care, stirring up our hearts to serve you and to seek first your righteousness and your kingdom. Direct our hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ!

Finally, we plead for the salvation, transformation and rescue of those who have never believed in your Son and turned from their sins (…). We also pray for the restoration of those who have strayed away from you (…).

All we ask in union with Jesus Christ your Son, and our Lord and Savior. And now we join together in the power of the Spirit to pray as he taught us, saying, Our Father…
