"The LORD Is My Shepherd" - 25 August 2024

Image
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. O God, our hearts are full of thankfulness because we have been richly endowed with your goodness: health, strength, hope, stamina, happiness, sustenance, homes and satisfaction. And even when in your good providence these are withheld from us, we have you, our greatest good and deepest joy! Thank you! Truly, the LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want! He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Give strength, aid, increasing love, durable commitment and unwavering godliness to fill and replenish your church here, as well as Korean First Presbyterian, Lake View Nazarene, Life by Faith Church, Life Community Church, and your church throughout the world. O great Shepherd of your people, where there are wolves in sheep’s clothing in your flock, expose and remove them that your people may be restored. Bring your people refreshment and ...

Vespers - 9 December 2018

Built on Psalm 23 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake . It’s to you we pray on behalf of those who need to be replenished and restored…supply them with all they need, give them refreshing places of rest and refreshment, lead them upward and onward, even when they lose their footing. O Lord, hear our prayer. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me . There are some who are treading and trudging their way through dark places, crawling through the dark night of the soul. We pray for them…may they have a sense of your unexplainable presence, detect hints of you holding them by their right hand, and feel you correcting and directing them into comfortable and comforting ways.   O Lord, hear our prayer. You prepare a...

"My Shepherd" (Psalm 23).

Image
(I initially presented a version of this at Heritage Presbyterian Church in Edmond Oklahoma on 3 March 2017; and then presented this version to the Capitol Bible Forum at the Oklahoma State Capitol on 26 April 2017) My Shepherd Psalm 23 With regard to Psalm 23 you could definitely dissect Psalm into several parts, nevertheless it easily and effortlessly falls open into three petals ( Want , Way and Wellbeing ) with the pistil being the middle of v.4 (“ with me ”). Hopefully by the end of this sermon you will be reminded of many old reasons, and gain several new reasons for trusting our Shepherd . Want (23.1-3): The primary point out of which flows the remainder of 1-3 is this first line: “ The LORD is my shepherd ”.  In a day and an age when police protection was non-existent, to say “ The LORD is my Shepherd ” is a claim of utmost trust. When wide prairies, pathways, wildernesses and wastelands were spaces and places wide open for animal attacks – both t...

"Great is Thy Faithfulness" - 8 November 2015 Morning and Evening

Image
Sunday morning: Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father; there is no shadow of turning with thee; thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not; as thou hast been thou forever will be. Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness! Morning by morning new mercies I see; all I have needed thy hand hath provided; great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me! We call upon you to smile upon this your congregation that our hearts might be courageous in the ways of the LORD, and that our words, thoughts and actions would be governed by your Holy Word and Holy Spirit. Further, Lord, we ask you to help us to promote godly peace with those who are at odds with us, or despise us, not being overcome by evil, but overcoming evil with good (Romans 12.21). For your Church throughout the world, including Brazilian Baptist Convention; the Baptist Bible Fellowship International; the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus; Batak Christian Protestant Church; the Presbyterian C...
