The Father and Son and Holy Ghost are Busy!

(The following is a sketch of what I said at the funeral for Fr. Charles E. Hageman, on 14 March 2016. The picture above is at the graveside service in Midland, TX. This was the same homily I used at his wife's funeral in August 2005). ------ The Father and Son and Holy Ghost are Busy! Romans 8.14-39 (KJV) The Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost are busy! They’re all over this passage, busily doing something. Why are they so busy? Because sin is just killing us! As the Apostles says just a few chapters earlier, “ Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned ” (Romans 5.12). Just as the old New England Primer from the 1600s used to say, “In Adam’s Fall, We Sinned All”. But more than that, there is something of an algorithmic progression: Sin ->Suffering -> death. "O LORD, You Made Heaven and Earth" - 13 March AM and PM

Sunday morning: O LORD, you made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them ; you keep truth forever and execute justice for the oppressed. You give food to the hungry and freedom to the prisoners; you open the eyes of the blind and raise those who are bowed down; you watch over the strangers and relieve the fatherless and widow.  It is to you we come! O LORD, you made heaven and earth, the sea and all that is in them ; we pray for your whole Church on earth, including The Father’s House Church; Fountain of Faith; Frontline Church; Full Gospel Assembly; The Gathering; Heartland Community Church; Iglesia ni Cristo; and this congregation. Fill her with all truth, in all truth with all peace. Where she is corrupt, purify her; where she is in error, direct her; where in anything she is amiss, reform her. Where she is right, strengthen her; where she is in need, provide for her; where she is divided, reunite her; for the sake of Jesus Christ Your Son our Savior.   The LO
