Holy Father, High Watermark of All True Fatherhood" - 21 June 2026

 

Holy Father, you who are the highwater mark of all true fatherhood: we are grateful for our fathers, especially when their firm love and care reverberated harmoniously with the melody of your own fatherhood. Help us to rightly honor our fathers and their memories. For those fathers in our lives who missed the mark, grant them to find you a true Father in Jesus Christ; repair that which they scarred or marred or broke and heal the wounds. For the fathers here in our fellowship we ask you to guide us by your fatherly hand that we will be, more and more, a noble and wholesome reflection of you to our children, whether those children are still at home or out on their own. And reclaim and reestablish the honorableness of fatherhood in your church throughout America.

Lord God of Hosts, the whole earth is filled with your glory. For the welfare of all we beseech you to arm world leaders with the tools, desires, energy and abilities to establish and enforce real justice and integrity that all people may enjoy tranquility, prosperity, health and life.

God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:4), we pray for ethnic Jews, religious Jews, and cultural Jews in all places. Do preserve them from the ungodly, evil, violent targeting by mobs, magistrates, terrorists and talking heads. May they be enlivened and raised up from their valley of dry bones to embrace the Messiah, Jesus, who is their only hope; to turn away from their religious and irreligious sins to the One whose sacrifice alone makes them right with you. As Paul said, it is our heart’s desire and prayer to God that they may be saved (Romans 10:1).

Mighty God, watch over our elders and their families traveling to General Assembly in Louisville KY. And as the discussions, debates and decisions unfold, bring forth that which is right in your sight for your glory, our good, and the outflowing of the Gospel.

Lord God, we beseech you to preserve your people, specifically where their lives are threatened and their livelihoods are in peril. Show these brothers and sisters your gracious kindness and set your angels around them as ministering spirits to the heirs of salvation (Hebrews 1:14). We further pray for this congregation, Capitol Hill Full Gospel, Liberty Gospel tabernacle, Living Waters Lighthouse, and Living Word Church. May we all be filled with the Spirit of truth who will lead us into all truth; who will build up and reinforce what is holy, good, and right; who will retrieve us from where we may have gone off the tracks; and who will ensure that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is our central focus. May we be filled with the Spirit of Truth (John 16:13)! 

We ask you to protect our folks who are traveling for vacation, going to camps, and more. Preserve them and bring them back safely. And we pray for those in our church fellowship, among our friends and in our families, who are dealing with death; experiencing pain; undergoing medical treatments; (…). We implore your consoling care for them, bringing them health, or peace, or comfort as needed, while also lifting their hearts that knowing you have never left them nor forsaken them they may rejoice in your goodness and sing your praises. And now we pray in the power of the Spirit as Jesus taught us, saying, Our Father…

"King of Kings" by James Baird. A Short Review

  As a young believer I spent years in the rise of the Moral Majority, the culture wars, and political and social conservatism. I cut my teeth on R.J. Rushdoony, Gary North, David Chilton, and others. I embraced much of Francis Schaeffer's material as I could get my mind around, and so much more. So, I was interested in reading this 110-page hardback "King of Kings: A Reformed Guide to Christian Politics" by James Baird, a pastor at Covenant Church (PCA) in Naples, Florida. Well, it was an okay read. Though I would agree with the author on many points, the history is flat and bland, as if the founders of the nation overwhelmingly all meant the same thing. Pastors and Prayer (Contentment, Counseling Situations, and Leadership)

  Years ago, in a situation long ago, in a different space and time continuum, I wrote these prayers. They were for me, as a pastor, in the midst of disappointment and feeling of deep defeat. I have drawn them back up out of the bowels of long unused files to dust them off and re-use them. I'm using them again not in the midst of disappointment and deep defeat, but because I think they are decent prayers, no matter my situation. I share them with you, fellow pastors, so you can use them, and hopefully find your heart lifted and the face of God smiling on you.
