Prayer of Thanksgiving – for God Who Is Good

Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever (1 Chronicles 16.34)!

You are good in and of yourself, O Lord. You are good and upright. You are good to all, showing your mercy to all that you have made. The quality of your moral excellence is untarnished, and is shown in your actions, in the steadfastness of your love, in the slowness of your judgment against your enemies, in the caring provision you make for all you have created, and in the special providence you demonstrate toward your Church.

Thank you mighty God that you are good and have always been good – even without us; and your goodness is richly for us. Thank you that because you are good, then you will not cast off forever; that though you may cause grief, you will have compassion according to the abundance of your steadfast love; that you do not afflict from your heart or grieve the children of men (Lamentations 3.32-33). Thank you that when you are preeminent in the consciousness and sub-consciousness of nations, tribes, clans, families and people, then decency, virtuousness and courteousness become uppermost. Thank you that through Christ Jesus your Son come both your grace and truth (John 1.17).

Glory to you, O God most high!

 [Here are a few other Bible passages referred to in the prayer: Ezra 3.11; Psalm 25.8, 34.8, 100.5, 106.1, 135.3, 145.9, 1 Peter 2.3]

{I hope you find this prayer thought provoking. But more than that, I hope this prayer will enhance your relationship with God. If you use this prayer for something other than personal use, please give credit where credit is due. Thanks, Mike}
