At the Death of My Grandson - 2 February 2019

Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD” (Job 1.21).

God all merciful and all wise, compassionate and caring. All our days are in your hands; you give us life, breath, love, and sustenance. We commend young Matthias Alexander Lynch into your caring embrace, and we commend his parents and siblings to your compassionate shalom. Though his days were few, we are grateful for the moments we had with him.  We loved seeing his big feet, the hair already growing on his head, and his fighting spirit. But, Lord, now you have him, and we believe that when Christ returns to raise all – some to the resurrection of everlasting life, and others to the resurrection of judgment (John 5.29), we trust to see him again, laughing, smiling, singing and running! Until then, keep count of our tossings, collect our tears in your bottle and log them in your book (Psalm 56.8): all for your love’s sake. Hear our spoken, and unspoken prayers, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Matty (Matthias Alexander) was born February 2 at 10:26 am. He weighed 10.9 oz and was 10 inches long. He was a strong little boy and fought to stay with us until 12:15 pm.

Blessed be the name of the Lord. Matty beat his family into the arms of Jesus but he will be there to greet each of you when God calls you home. What a great reunion that will be.

So sad for you that you were able to love him for so short a time. So blessed was he that he was loved by you and eternally loved by God.

Our hearts grieve with you and your family at this tremendous loss. "Those we love are with the Lord; and He has promised always to be with us. If they are with Him and He is with us, they cannot be very far away." Peter Marshall. Matty will always be a part of you here in this life, and will celebrate with you when, too, come into the presence of our Lord.
